As for OHeather's question about alternatives to nail polish, my sister suggests trying the following:
- Water-based acrylic paints or enamels
- We haven't tried this one yet, but a crackle varnish might make for an interesting look.
- Possibly a glass paint?
All of these things can be picked up at a craft store. My sister says nail polish still gives the best finish and it doesn't smell once it's dried. Or perhaps a nail polish from an organic store as mentioned above would work for you.
