SAD Re: Kroger Private Selection Organics and Naturally Preferred Brand

Hi!
I too was buying many of Kroger's Private Selection items until I learned a few things.
First - Private selection organic canned tomato sauce 15 oz. - They had a great sale on these and I stocked up while preparing sauce for my turkey lasagna I noticed wear on the inside lining of the can. It had been eaten away by the acid in the tomato. I called the company to find out what the lining was made of and was informed BPA is the liner!!!! I was a bit dumbfounded I am buying organic to eliminate all possible contaminants and chemicals from my familys diet and I'm feeding them BPA. Yes tomato sauce is acidic but there are alternatives such as enamel which is safe and acid proof. The representative told me it was cheaper and allowed by the fda to use the bpa lining ( I am not sure what any other canned items are lined with this was my first experience with canned PS) .. My issues would be forwarded but I never heard anything back.
Second - The PS Natural ground beef is packaged with gasses to preserve them, not processed but packaged. One day after I opened a package of ground beef I had an Overwhelming scent of sulfur. i was told it is to preserve the meat and color and does not penetrate the meat. I find that hard to believe. Just wanted to share my experiences with you all.
