Default If you have any Wild Harvest coupons left.....

The Wild Harvest tomato products like canned stewed tomatoes (regular and italian) and the tomato sauce were on sale for $1.25 per can, so with the $1/1 coupon, brings them down to .25c a can (with doubles if you can use them in your area, then overage of .25c!!!).

I bought several cans tonight.

The other thing that was a decent deal was the Wild Harvest organic carrots - 1-pound bag was $1.99 - $1 coupon = .99c per pound. It was cheaper than the conventional ones that were on sale.

I'll be sad when those coupons expire. You don't want to know how many I had, but let's just say we've been drinking lots of lemonade at our house this summer!

I got a bag of organic tortilla chips for $1 with mine. They were 2/$4, so $1 after coupon. Not too shabby!

I totally forgot about these Q's. Thanks for the reminder. Gives me a good reason to go into Albertsons afterwards to redeem my CRV refund voucher. Uhhh... I wish we didn't have the CRV deposits. Big PITA!!!

What's a CRV refund/deposit?

Here in CA (and a few other lucky states) they charge us a per bottle/can deposit to encourage recycling via a refund of deposit.

2ltr soda = 10˘ CRV deposit
1 can or small bottled water = 5˘ CRV deposit

Basically the 12 pack of soda that I buy on sale for $2 is actually $2.60 (60˘ CRV). The 6 pack of beer is ... $3.99 plus tax plus 30˘ CRV. The case of bottled water is $4.49 plus $1.20 CRV. The 64oz bottle of cran-apple is $2.50 plus 10˘ CRV (only 100% juice and wine do not get charged CRV). Does that make sense? If you are curious, look on the side of your cans/bottles sometime and you will see a CRV stamp with State and value noted.

So anyway, here we have 3 choices. We can make the effort to get our "CRV deposit" back by taking our bottles/cans back to the recycling center for a refund. We can put it out with the rest of our curbside recycleables. Or we can be do the unthinkable nono and throw them out with the trash. I choose to get my CRV deposit back because that is money wasted and it really does add up over time.

On an interesting note, we have bums here that go through the city trash canisters to collect cans & bottles to turn in to be turned in for a CRV refund. Kind of gross, but kind of cool in that they are the smart ones that take advantage of other peoples waste.
