I will have to see if we can't get our Christmas stuff out of storage in time to do this, although we don't normally decorate till after Thanksgiving.

Awesome! Ours are in the guest room closet and pretty easy to get at! I think we have at least 4-5 strands of lights!

Super! Thanks for posting! It's that time where I'm starting to think about decorating ~ and going through allllll those lights!! I know I pitched quite a few strands last year so I'm sure I will be needing more!

That is super cool.

I upgraded our lights to energy efficient LED's last year when there was the after Christmas discounts.

How do these lights look on the tree? Are they a bluish light like most LEDs I have seen or do they now come in warmer tones?

I don't know what colors they come in but this looks like it could be a really cool deal if you can get the trade-in coupons and if they don't expire for a little bit.

The product box in the link says "cool white" which leads me to believe they still have the bluish tint.

So I googled. This site says they have various colours. Maybe HD does have them, too. I dunno. Our closest HD is an hour & a half away.

DH and I went to do this yesterday. The way it works is you can trade as many light strings in as you want and you get a coupon to use by November 15th that is good for $3 off LED lights. You can use the same coupon on up to 5 packages of LED lights.

Looking at the LED selections at our store, there were TONS to choose from. They had bright white, multi-colored, and soft-white varieties to choose from. They also had various shapes and sizes- you could get snowflake lights, icicle-shaped lights, icicle strands, netting lights for covering bushes, globe- and teardrop-style bulbs. They had a really nice selection!
