Guidelines for Posting in the Delaware State Forum

The state forums are a place for members to connect locally and share information with other members about what green living options are available in their area. Wondering what to post in the state forums? Below is a handy guide about what types of things can be posted in the state forums and instructions about how to organize the information so that it can easily be found by other people in your area.

* Each state has one dedicated state forum. It's perfectly fine to post information in more than one state forum as long as it is applicable.

For example: The Washington DC Green Festival information can be re-posted in Maryland and Virginia forums since the geographical area is the same and people from these states can easily attend this event.

Another example: Regional stores. If you have a grocery store that is specific to a regional area and you are posting the sales ad, go ahead and do it in each applicable state. (Larger chains/national stores will have ads posted outside of the state forums in the Grocery Deals by Store forums.)

* Posting addresses, phone numbers, and links to store websites, restaurants, or events is acceptable and encouraged. If you are an individual wishing to promote your own business or sell products, you must first obtain an Entrepreneur Membership. See here for details.

* The title of each thread should include the city where the event or store is located. Also be sure to include the name of the store or event in the title so that information can be easily located.

* Tags can be utilized for any additional information that you feel should be included to make the location or event more easily searchable, such as county or zip code.

* Each state forum has a subset of thread prefixes available for use. Currently, we are organizing information in the following way:

Weekly Ad: Use this thread prefix when you are posting the weekly sales ad or a sale alert for a local or regional store.

Farmers Market: Use this thread prefix when you are posting information about a local farmers market or farm stand.

CSA: Use this thread prefix when you are posting information about community supported agriculture or food co-ops.

Buy Local: Use this thread prefix when you are posting information about local or regional stores. These can be anything from natural pet stores, organic/natural home decor, organic/natural grocers, local butchers, organic bakeries, sustainable building supply stores, chemical-free dry cleaners, etc.

Community Event: Use this thread prefix when you are posting information about community events. These can be livestock competitions, fund-raising events like the MS walk or Race for the Cure, food festivals like a wine or strawberry festival, lectures or community education courses about green living, roadside trash cleanups, habitat for humanity events, etc.

Recycling: Use this thread prefix when you are posting information about local recycling centers. You can also post information in this forum about where to donate clothing, scrap metal, etc.

Restaurant: Use this thread prefix for posting information about local restaurants. We'd like to focus on Vegan or Vegetarian restaurants, or restaurants with a strong focus on locally grown or organic foods.

Meetup: Use this thread prefix for connecting with others. If you're interested in hosting a get together or meetup with members in your area this is the place to do it.

Alternative Medicine: Use this thread prefix for posting information about alternative or Holistic medicine, including healing centers, practicing Herbalists, Holistic Vets, herbal shops, etc.
