Eat In Season - August

Support local farmers and growers by eating local foods in-season. Use the following list as a guide, but please note that the produce seasons may differ for your area.

We've broken this down by Fruits and Vegetables and where the item is in the season cycle.

(H) - Hot on the Market
(R) - Perfectly ripe, and in the height of season
(G) - Going, going, gonna be gone if you don't hurry

I can't believe it's August already! Look at all of the delicious fruits and veggies in season this month!

Yes! I got blueberries, raspberries and blackberries for 99¢ pint. I see lots of yummy breakfasts and smoothies in our future for the next month or so. :)

Our farmers market opens this month...never been to it. It is held at the community garden. Going to check it out for sure.

I love avocados too! When we lived in Albuquerque the regular price was 2/$1 and they went on sale for 3 or even 4/$1! Here in MD I don't think I've ever found them for less than $1.50/each and that's on sale. They want $2.99 at Safeway for one!

Thanks so much for posting this info. I just joined a produce co-op and was wondering how I would know what produce was in season.
