How to change the colors of your profile:

Click on "User CP"

On the left hand side, click on "Customize profile". This will get you to the area where you can change the colors, fonts, border styles, and images on your profile. Select the colors and fonts you'd like to use, change the style of your borders, etc.

There's also a handy preview button where you can test everything out together before you make it go live. Don't forget to click "save" or your changes will not take place.



Background images:
If you want to use a background image you'll need to create an album for your profile images.

On your control panel under the "Networking" option click "Pictures & Albums"

At the top click "Add Album" and then under album type choose "profile".You'll need to create a title (description field is optional) for your album. Click "submit" and then click "Click here to upload pictures".

To upload an image click the "browse" button and then select the file name from your list of available computer files.
Once the area next to "Browse" populates with the file name you can add additional photos, or
click on the "Upload Pictures" button to upload the image to the site.

At this point you can choose a caption for your photo and choose if you want the photo to be the album cover that will appear on your profile page. Once you've made any changes click "Save Changes".

You'll then be taken to the album you've just created. To use the image as a background you'll need to capture the link.
Click on the image you'd like to use.
Underneath the image you'll see the Picture URL and the BB Code.
Highlight the "BB code" area and copy it to your clipboard.

Go back into your user CP and click on "Customize Profile" where you'll be taken to the page where you can change colors, fonts, borders, and backgrounds.

Paste the BB code into the background image section according to which part of your profile you'd like the image to appear. Click "Preview" to test it out and make sure to click "Save" to make the changes complete.

Keep in mind that you can use different background images for different areas of your profile. You can take a look at mine (Kristen.C) for an example. Just upload the different images to your background album and follow the steps above for each image.
