(NaturalNews) A big concern for most people when they leave their house in the morning to go about their day is the issue of body odor and how to control it. As you can see, this is not a very healthy route to take. First of all, antiperspirants contain aluminum. Long term exposure to aluminum has been linked to Alzheimer's disease. Most of the areas that people tend to apply antiperspirants to contain lots of blood vessels located near the skin's surface. When you apply it, the aluminum tends to get absorbed into the blood stream and goes directly to the brain where it accumulates. So the answer is to avoid common antiperspirants. Even the ones that don't contain aluminum contain other harmful, toxic chemicals that are best avoided as well.

Another type of odor controlling product is deodorant. These are different from antiperspirants in that they don't block sweat output, they work by masking the odor caused by the bacteria using scent. Many conventional deodorants achieve this by containing toxic chemicals that combine to make a fragrance. If you read my previous article titled "Review of Aubrey Organics 100 Percent Natural Shampoo" you know to be wary of products with the term "Fragrance" on the label. Many companies use this term to mask a number of highly toxic, synthetic ingredients mixed in a laboratory to create a scent that smells like something natural (like flowers, strawberries, etc.) or something man-made, like fake perfume.

Many synthetic chemicals are a skin irritant. So along with hiding body odor, you may be prone to rashes, eczema, razor burn, and allergy on skin contact. These are not side-effects you want to be dealing with before your date.

Ooh, I'm going to try this!!!!! My crystal rock has been failing me...especially in the late summer months with the humidity...I'm such a sweat hog. I used to get "immune" to regular deodorants...meaning that I would have about 3 or 4 different kinds on my bureau and would rotate them every few weeks when they seemed to stop working. Then I found the crystal....LOVED IT!!! It worked for me for a long time!! I even promoted it on here on a thread. Now... I'm a sweathog again. I have bought Tom's of Maine, Nature's Gate and Kiss My Face deodorants...all to no avail. So, I am sorry to say that I have succumbed to my nasty pits and have three mainstream deodorants on my bureau again.

I only have to wear deoderant if I am working hard. Otherwise I am don't really sweat that much. So a stick of deoderant lasts me forever. But I have tons of Regular deoderant to use up from regular couponing before I can switch to something more natural.....might be years. LOL

I was using the liquid crystal "Naturally Fresh" deodorant for awhile but it took forever for it to dry on my armpits, so I had to flap my arms like a bird before I got dressed. I just bought the hard stick last week that you have to wet yourself and that seems to dry much faster.

I still have to wear mainstream deodorant when I know I'm going to be in really high humidity/heat and when I'm working out around other people. So if I'm just doing an exercise video at home I'll wear the natural stuff and if I'm going down to the gym to use the cycle or to walk a few miles at the park I lather on the other stuff.

I used to be like you Heidi, before I was diagnosed with RA I would never sweat and if I forgot to put on deodorant one day it wasn't a big deal. Now I'm the complete opposite!

My brother and I are lucky in that we don't have to wear deodorant. I think we inherited it from my mother. As for DH & oldest DD, they cannot step out of the house withought wearing the stuff.
