House passes Food Safety -- On to the Senate!
You did it!Your emails and phone calls helped give us the momentum to pass a strong food safety bill out of the House before August recess. Now it’s time to get the Senate moving on food safety when it returns.
These bills will help prevent deadly food outbreaks like the recent peanut products recall that killed nine people. High-risk facilities will be inspected by FDA at least once a year -- not every 10 years as they average now. Food producers must report to the FDA any contamination they find. And recalls of tainted food will be mandatory, not voluntary as they are now.
Tell your Senators to act as soon as possible on food safety reform, so our families can get some peace of mind about the food we eat each day.
