    Green Thumb GM-Free Seed Sources

Came across this list today, in a post about the Monsanto trial that just started. This organization is involved in much broader aspects of gene manipulation than just agriculture, but I thought that their "Safe Seed" list was a good resource.

Some companies listed are ones mentioned here before (High Mowing Seeds, FedCo), but there are many others listed throughout the US and Canada.

That's so funny! I guess you never know who your neighbors are

It's been so warm that I definitely have gardening on the brain -- time to start looking at seed catalogs...

I am in a quandary. I have a Territorial Seed catalog that I reallllly would like to order from. However, I'm getting conflicting reports about them. They are, in fact, on the Safe Seed list. I've also seen that they are not a company one should buy from because they can/do get (some) of their seeds from Seminis (sp?) which is owned by Monsanto. I've read that they will not "knowingly" sell GMO seeds. I know that the only certain way we can be sure is to buy organic seeds. Can anyone help clarify this for me? I'm sure I could call Territorial, but who knows if they can really answer me honestly? The catalog has some really cool seed tape and disks that I want to buy. Last year, seed tape was hard to find; I've already seen it in a couple of different catalogs for this year. Maybe if I keep searching, the varieties will have broadened and I will be able to find organic seed tape.

Tammy -- There was a great blog post not too long ago about this very thing at Northwest Edible Life. The short answer is that Territorial no longer buys seed from Seminis; if they've got the seed tape that you're after I'd go ahead and place the order. Link to the post below:

Cool beans Jessie! I'll check it out! Both the sources I saw, were 2012....so I was confused. Ya' know, Territorial should really mention something like this in their catalog or on their site (unless I missed it). Thanks so much!
