Default my huge container garden this year

Well I was only going to have a small container garden this year but it has mushroomed. So today rather then fight it, we went to Lowe's home improvements garden center and I loader the trailer with all organic veggie soil. so tomorrow we will start loading our containers with soil ande planting all the plants we have been growing from seeds. they will be at our guest house all the way around the sundeck so I can get to things and the deer can't. I have figured a way to outsmart their little butss on my garden. they wont go onto the deck to get to the veggies. so they will grow wonderfully.

I am going to have tomatoes and veggies coming out the wazoo. but I am happy I have decided to go for the gusto. I haven't done this magnitude of gardening in years. but I could never do it if it were not in containers and on the porch.

Needless to say we didn't get the trailor unloaded when we got home. Yep! it was another late nighter. I got to start going to bed earlier. My kids are worrying when they call in the morrng and I am still asleep because I stayed up so late. here it is 12:30am and I am still up. I even drank a cup of organic Chamamile petals tea to try to relax me a bit. LOL

I can't wait to get the soil into the containers tomorrow. and I really can'twait to get my heirloom plants raised from my heirloom seeds into them. I begged and borrowed to get those heirlooms fromeveryone I know around here. I have to treat them with kit gloves so that everything makes it through the transplant. Wish me luck.

I have had great luck in the past with container gardening. I purchased the large self watering pots and one earthbox. I had fantastic luck with peppers 2 years ago. Every year I plant at least one pot with spring salad greens too. Plus I can't forget basil and parsley.

I hope your container gardens are productive!!!

Wonderful Pam! I love container gardening. About the only thing I've got going as far as edibles right now are bell pepper, cayenne pepper and chives. I will most likely pick up some herbs to pot this weekend. I've got another jade plant to step up too. I want to take all of my various aloe out of pots and make an aloe garden. I just haven't decided on a spot yet. This time of year is just so much fun! Hope you can keep the deer out. I'm hoping those evil squirrels don't get to my sunflower heads again this year. I was hoping to eat all the sunflower seeds last year, but they got to them first. Even worse, they sit up in the trees and snicker about it. I wish my cat hunted squirrel! LOL!

I only have tomatoes and rosemary (the stuff grows like a weed!) in containers right now, but I soon hope to grow more. Good luck on your gardening and keep us posted on how it is going. :)

Congrats on the container garden. Let us know how it ends up! I haven't had luck with containers here, so I have no advise for you. We don't get enough sun on our deck, and the tomatoes in the past kept reaching and reaching for the sun.

I have done contianer gardens here before. it has just been a few years since I did it. and I was physically more able then.

We put river rocks in the bottom of my containers and that way the soil can drain and the roots wont rot.

Sorry you don't get enough sun. we built on the southwest side of the mountain and get sun all day long. and a wonderful sunset. it is great for winters because our place is the first place the ice or snow melts. and it doesn't cost as much to heat. in the summer I have to use the light out shades and play the north and south game with the shades during the daytime hours so it doesn't heat the home up too much and we can let the air conditioners stay turned down
