Default What Are You Harvesting From Your Garden in September?

What is everyone harvesting this month?

I live in Northern Minnesota. We are harvesting tomatoes, sweet corn, a few peppers and a few cucumbers.

Our raspberries have slowed down, but there is another crop setting on. Most likely they will frost before getting ripe though.

We had a very cold summer, so everything is late. We had no tomatoes until September this year. Normally we would have had them in August.

September has been the warmest month of the summer, THANKFULLY we are getting some days in the 80's. Very welcome after a summer of 60's and rain.

I picked the first of our butternut squash yesterday -- they were volunteer plants that got their start in our compost bin.

We've had a small tomato and pepper harvest so far; it was so cool and rainy for most of the summer that they didn't stand much of a chance. I've got one batch of tomato sauce stashed in the freezer so far, and I'll be happy to get a few more quarts in there before the garden is done for the season.

On the plus side, I've got plenty of oregano drying, and will pick some thyme to start drying later on today. Parsley and chives are still doing well, and I planted a few more containers of lettuce at the end of August that will be giving us some more salad in a few weeks.

Not the best of harvests this year, but it's still satisfying to be able to grow some of our own produce

We have cherry tomatoes out the wazoo and that's about all. The hot temperatures and our not being around to water regularly really killed off my squash and cucumbers. Our herbs are still thriving, so I've been trying to use/freeze those as well.

That is exactly how I feel.

I am thankful for cherry tomatoes this year as our larger ones all have blight.

A little bit of okra, tomatoes, and squash are still coming out, though I definitely haven't been watering the squash like I should be. I've got peas galore that I'm harvesting right now. This year was my first veggie garden, and it did amazing.

I'm still getting some cukes, although they are really dwindling down. My tomatoes are still coming in pretty strong. My peppers actually just started producing a week or so ago. That's about it. I wanted to get some seeds for lettuce, spinach and the like, in the ground but we had super wet weather and then hot weather and I never made it into the garden....

Pitiful gardening year here. Currently the genovese basil and thyme is being harvested. I just sowed rosemary and tarragon over the weekend plus I have okra and cucumber seedlings. I'll be doing a lot of sowing this month and next as fall and spring are our main gardening times in my zone.

I was only able to do a little container gardening due to space and naughty pets. My harvest is now down to the random tomato here and there. :)

I pulled the last of the carrots today. They did amazingly well this summer, probably b/c of the colder weather. We are also getting a tomato here and there. I planted them really late, so I hope I'll be able to harvest more before the colder weather sets in. We also have green beans still coming, and I picked some peppers the other day. It's amazing how big and uniformly shaped cukes grow when you actually water them! It wasn't the best year for a garden, but I'm still happy with what we did get. I'm still waiting for one of those bumper crop years.

Me too, it seems we almost never have enough to freeze or can. There is always a problem with the weather that limits our harvests in Northern Minnesota.
