CHAT What are you buying & how much are you paying this week?

It's Sunday, which means new sales and new coupons. Have you had a chance to go through your sales flyers yet? If so, what will you be buying this week & what good deals are you getting?

I went to Kroger tonight to get some fruit & veggies for dd's lunch for the week. This is how I did:

1 organic salad mix = 3.50
1 bag organic carrots = 2.00
2 organic granny smith apples = 2.00
1 bag organic grapes = 3.00
Total = 10.50
-(1) 1.50 off fresh fruit Kroger coupon
-(1) 1.50 off fresh vegetables Kroger coupon
= 8.50

Not too bad considering this will provide fruit & veggies for 5 lunches for dd, plus the salad mix will go with 2+ meals this week, & the extra carrots and grapes will be daily snacks at home.

I also got 5 free Clif Mojo bars & 5 free Clif Kids bars at Kroger after the Mambo Sprouts coupons. I'll take the Mojo bars for a snack while I'm at school, and dd will have the kids bars for after school snacks.

What good deals are you getting this week?

I'll be buying meat, since DH comes home this weekend... so I'm sure that will blow my budget.

Let's see...

Nob Hill
Kashi cereals are 2/$5... if I have any coupons, I might snag some
Celestial Seasonings teas are 3/$6, and I do have coupons for that!

Target
Palmolive Free & Clear - $2.25 (I'm pretty sure I have at least 1 coupon)
Archer Farms organic milk... can't remember the exact price, but it's a little less there than anywhere else in our area

Superfresh-- If we got more yeast coupons in today's inserts I will definitely be going back for more since they triple and yield super-cheap yeast. See Superfresh triples brag for what I ended up buying there! (Note: Most of that stuff is headed to work with DH. Especially the canned soup and the noodle bowls.)

Weis-- I went to get King Arthur flour ($3.19/5 lb bags) since I've been baking our own bread. I have to figure out what it actually costs per loaf but from what I'm estimating, it's been roughly $1 per loaf. I also picked up 2 cucumbers at 69 cents each and a few pounds of vine ripened tomatoes at $1.99/lb.

Other than finding somewhere to get reasonably priced oranges and any incidentals we may need to prepare the meals for the week, I think I'm actually pretty much done with shopping for this week. We still have lots of produce from Saturday's shopping trip, and I still have milk, OJ, and yogurt to last the rest of the week.

I'll edit this post as I figure stuff out. None of our sales here actually start on Sunday. We're a Wed/Thurs/Fri area...so I end up being really disorganized as to what I'm buying when/where.

Default Re: What are you buying & how much are you paying this week?

Hi: Most of our grocery ads run from Wednesday thru the following Tuesday. TJ doesn't have much in the way of sales here in So. Ca.
but we buy quite a bit there. We don't have WF or like markets so have to rely on TJ and conventional super markets.

At Albertsons they have chicken breasts for 99 cents lb. we aren't much into red meat so we do most everything in the meat dept. with fish and chicken. Fresh express salad mixes 2.50 less $1q from magazine. We grow some things like tomatoes etc. so salads are a big deal at our house.

Ralph's has an organic section of fresh foods but they charge 3 prices plus
Aunt Julias diamond necklace so we have to tread softly. Lots of hispanic markets here locally that help out with the produce.

We are going south tomorrow to take our son to the City of Hope for a follow up on his T Cell Transplant so we get to go to Whole Foods on the way back, . Hoping for some good deals and we will probably blow the budget.

I guess this has turned into more of a blog than where we are buying specials this week and for how much. But maybe you all will be gracious and give us an entry anyway.

BLESSINGS JANARIE8

Vons came out with a 10% off your next shopping coupon in todays paper that runs 11/2-11/4 with a $25 minimum purchase. Let's see what kind of damage I can do by trying to buy more organic on this trip and trying to maximize my savings in the process! Woohoo!!!

Great deals, everyone!

janarie - best wishes tomorrow!

mmandjsmom - I won't tell if you don't! I give my dd the Clif kids brownie bars and call them brownies!

I'm just getting a look at my ads, but at Kroger I'll be going for the pomegranates on sale 2/$3, and also the Imagine organic broths that are $1.75 after coupon.

Wow - that's awesome!

Our 'sale' is $2.89/bag.

Kroger has organic pears on sale this week for $1.48, so I'll pick up some of those.

I'm in one of those weird food moods, so not sure what else I'll be buying this week. The weather is cold, and all I want is hot soup, lol.

Ditto here on the soup (actually I don't need an excuse to eat soup. I love it during all seasons!). We live about 10 minutes from the coast, up in the hills, so the chill creeps up on us pretty fast.

Food-wise, I am low on flour, tomato and pasta products. So, I think I will be checking out Albertsons tomorrow to see if any of their Wild Harvest line is on sale and then maybe drop into Trader Joe's for some more flour and baking items. What better way to warm the house than by baking. Mmmmm... and maybe a warm fire tonight as well.

So if you don't know, Shaw's is having som really awesome sales on WIld Harvest.

Today I picked up 4 boxes of Whole Wheat Spaghetti @ 50% clearance - $1 Q = ~$.15 (x4) overage towards other food
1 bag WH Tortilla Chips = $1.50 - $.50
1 bag WH frozen Raspberries (not on sale, but DS wanted them today) = $3.99 - $1 = $2.99 (I counted the overage towards this)!
2 bags Cas. Farm frozen veggies @ 2/$5 (not on sale) - $1 Qs = $1.50/bag

I picked up a few other things and used some OYNO catalinas to make my OOP $2.79 for ~$30 worth of groceries. Plus I got another $10 OYNO and food to donate to the food pantry! It was a good shopping day.

Go to Wild Harvest™ Organic - Organify Your World. There are two printables there. I was able to print more than ten of the $1/1!

I ended up bring the print queue up so I could see when one coupon was sent to the queue and I could hit the back key to print again. I kept doing that until it wouldn't let me anymore. Then I hooked my printer up and printed them off. For whatever reason, each Q posted as two but it was really only one. It didn't make sense to me, but I was fine with the number I got! I just wish the sales continued through this week too!
