Exercise My Get Movin' Goal For The Week Is...

The holidays are fast approaching, and if you're like me, the yummy foods and sweets are just too hard to resist!

What's good for the taste buds are bad for my booty, so I'm making my goal this week to take all the steps at school and avoid all elevators.

Total this is:

Up 6 flights
Up 4 flights
Down 5 flights
Up 1 flight
Down 6 flights

X's 2 school days.

Might not sound like a lot, but those first 6 flights are a killer at 9 am while juggling a book bag and coffee.

Make your own personal goal for this week and share it with us!

Default Re: OGD 1-Year Anniversary Contest- See details inside!

My goal is to actually get outside and do something, anything. I hate the cold weather/winter, and I have a hard time @ the end of Autumn to go outside at all. Once it starts snowing, it's a little better--for a month or two. Yesterday I played tag for awhile, so maybe a little more of that will be in my future. :)

Default Re: My Get Movin' Goal For The Week Is...

I have gotten motivated recently to start back up with some more intense working out. Of course, intense to me might be a walk in the park to others, and since I've slacked for oh...about the last TWO YEARES, anything that makes me sweat right now could be considered intense. BUT...over the weekend I actually cleared everything off of and away from my home gym. (you know you all have some piece of exercise equipment hiding under SOMETHING). And I put some new music on my little ipod. My goal is to do some strength training M-W-F and aerobics, cardio or WHATEVER T-Th. So far, so good. I did a total body sculpt video yesterday morning (only a half hour) and a did 15 minutes on my gym. Today I did my treadmill and walked/fast walked for 2 miles (the music helped so much). I'm hoping to keep the momentum going and continue this way from now until...forever????

I plan on putting my elliptical machine together this week so I can get back to exercising. I am also going to buy a pair of ski pants tomorrow so that I can go outside with my son to play in the snow (yeah I'm a kid at heart). Also, I plan on getting a better night of sleep during the week since I have to get the kids on the bus by 7 am. That way I won't be dragging when I go to exercise.

I haven't been very good over the past few busy weeks with my resistance bands so I will be doing those every other day again. It's a great workout and really makes me sweat!

I haven't been doing a very good job of walking DD to school in the morning (I have been driving). So my goal is to try to get back into at least walking in the mornings again 2-3 times a week.

Since I'm finding that the dryer must be shrinking my jeans again (lol) it's time for me to start doing something about it too.

So my goal for the week will be to get on our manual stair stepper at least 3 different days for a minimum of 10 minutes each time. If I do this when no one's home, I can crank up the stereo and step for at least 3 songs worth. Singing loudly while doing so will burn more calories than not singing, right?

I have a big prize waiting for me at the end of all the holidays (plus a few weeks)... my husband is coming home from over there after being gone for a year. If that isn't motivation, I don't know what is. And since the dog was told to lose 5#, I have a buddy to take with me on my walks. So, I vow to try to walk outside at least 30 minutes a day. Today, I only got 15 in. (so far)

That's great motivation. My dog also needs to lose about 5 pounds also so we've been going on more walks as well.

I bet you're so excited to see your hubby!

My goal:

To do housework with the baby in the sling (like lifting weights while getting up and down!) and to take a mile walk with her at least once a week (1/2 a mile if she's in the sling instead of the stroller). Not sure if I can commit to much more than that right now, but it's at least more than I'm doing!

Hey, 15 is better than none!! Keep up the great work!
I'm excited for you to be seeing your husband in awhile. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that whether you walk 15 or 30 minutes a day your husband is going to be thrilled no matter what to be home with you.

Ok, gals. After working 2 overnight shifts Sunday & Monday & being a Mommy all day, I am back with you all. I'm in for 3 days a week, at least 2 minutes each on the eliptical. I'm going to need some support, so PM's would be great. I'm off to the eliptical right now....that will be 2 times this week so far.

I'm not sure if anyone cares (or if this is posted in the right place), but I stepped on the scale today. I'm DOWN 3 lbs from a week ago!!!!
I've been taking magnesium & apple cidar vinegar which have cut my sweet tooth. Plus, I've done the eliptical 4 times this week & just tried to eat more fruits & veggies, healthy snacks, etc. I discovered a possible new addiction however....greek yogurt!

We'll see if I can keep this trend going!

So far I'm continuing to do well with my fitness program...eating wise...well that's a different story, but I have continued to get up every M-F at 5 and exercise. Even though I HATE it, which I always have. Exercising is NOT fun to me. I have tons of videos and lots of equipment, but I get bored easily. Last week I won Hip Hop Abs on Ebay for under 20 bucks (my Christmas present to me, since I have a 4 year old and very limited family that isn't very close as it is, so Santa doesn't bring me anything) I got it in the mail yesterday. I did it this morning and it really was fun!! This one might actually keep my attention for more than a week.

There are 5 different workouts on the 2 DVDs. I did the cardio one which was 30 minutes. I wished it was for more I liked it that much. It got me sweating, it wasn't boring, it wasn't too slow or too fast. I like to think I'm pretty coordinated, but there are a couple of videos I have that are just too stinkin' confusing or I don't like the way they instruct that I toss them to the side from the get go.

So anyway...just wanted to put my opinion out there...I like it...I think I will continue to like it.

My goal is to "put down the cookies!" What a bunch of junk I have been eating, and mostly it is from the stress of the holiday this year. Maybe I will join a gym. I need to see if there's babysitting first though.

I know the above is not a get moving goal, but food is just one of those thing that I think is very closely related.

Ditto on this. I love to cook and bake but DH and I really try to steer clear of junk food. Most of my baking gets sent in to work with him to share with everyone so we don't devour an entire cake or batch of cookies. This week I have had more junk food than I probably have had in the past year. I feel sluggish and like crap. We're definitely doing healthy snacks again this year for NYE!

Today I made either the best decision of my life or I will make a fool of myself. I signed up to bike the MS 30/60 ride in May. I have a friend who has MS (a young mom of 2 cute kids) who sent out an email asking for others to join her on the fundraising bikeride or to pledge her ride. I thought, "What a great way to stay motivated! I'll ride." and signed up!!! What did I do??? Not only do I need to get in good enough shape to ride 30 miles, but I have to raise the pledges!

Good for you! My Godmother has MS-- it's an awful disease and I can only hope with all of the money being raised that one day someone will find a cure.

I received P90X (that workout program you see on infomercials) for Christmas (as it was on my list) and I started Monday. Today is my third day and all I can say is HOOOOOOLLLLYYYY CRAP!!!!! This is INTENSE! As I knew it would be. I mean, on the infomercial the before and after pics are of normal looking people who are then all cut and ripped after 90 days. They by no means start out fat, just a bit out of shape or not toned. I am so proud of myself for what I've accomplished so far, but I'll tell you, I am one hurtin' unit right about now...but in a good way (you know what I mean). I work out regularly and though I don't necessarily push myself beyond my comfort zone all that often, I have a goal in my head of being able to have nice toned arms this summer so that I will feel comfortable wearing tank tops, so I want to push myself, hence wanting this program. I will tell you what! I definitely feel like I can reach that goal (and only after 3 days!!!) And let me just fill you in....I have NEVER worn sleeveless tops or tank tops....NEVER!!! I don't have toned arms, and I'm about 20 pounds overweight, and I'm a total apple shape, so I seem to just be ROUND in my stomach, back and upper arm area...always have been. These workouts are an hour+ per day and each day is a different one. There are 12...wait...maybe 15 different DVD's and you do a different one each day and in a different order each week. I'm so motivated and so proud of myself right now...I'm hoping I can keep this steam going. And this summer I just may have a "beach body".

That's great RSR!! I haven't seen the commercial, but I trust that it's a good workout. Beach body, here you come...!!
