A local grocery store co-op. Here's some background info with a link

Q: Why do the cashiers ask if I'm a member or ask me my member number?
That's because we're a co-op. If you are a member, present your card to the cashier. If you're not yet a member, please join. We'd love you have you and you'll save money on your groceries while being a part of something special.
Q: What makes Wheatsville different?
WE OWN IT! Wheatsville is owned and operated by people just like you - folks willing to work together to provide for themselves. The motivating purpose of co-ops is to serve the needs of the members, not to generate a profit. When the co-op makes a profit, it is cycled back into Wheatsville to increase our services for you, the member, or if sufficient profit is made, it given back to the membership in the form of a patronage refund. Join us in our mission to provide high-quality food and nondoctrinaire information about food to the Austin community.

Q: Can I shop if I'm not a member?
Yes. Everyone is welcome to shop at Wheatsville.

Q: Are members obliged to work a certain number of hours in the store?
No. When Wheatsville first started out in 1976, we relied entirely upon the membership to volunteer their labor to run the store. Now we have paid staff who handle the day-to-day operations.

I shop here. Organic produce is often VERY CHEAP here for me. They also have the monthly sales. I feel it's very worth the 65.00 I spent on the membership....50.00 of it, is invested, and is REFUNDED to you, whenever you leave the coop. So, really, you end up paying 15.00 for the lifetime membership...(though I guess...people will say you could have invested that 50.00 for the life of the membership and made money on it...blah, blah).

I don't go here everyday, but I try to go once a week....load up on the veggies. We are very blessed to have so many organic stores in Austin. :)
