Default Organic or natural dog food..

Hi Everyone!

Just curious...how many of you feed your dogs (and/or other pets) organic or natural pet food? And, if so, what brand do you prefer? Also...where do you purchase it?

We feed our dogs Natural Balance LID (grain free). We were feeding them Wysong Synorgon (again, grain free) for years and years. Finally having to stop because the price is now upwards of $45-50 for a 32 lb. bag! That's just an awful lot of money ~ we go through one bag every 5-6 weeks. We've read lots of good things about Wellness, but again, that is in the same range as Wysong.

Thanks for any input!

I have fed my dog Newmans Own Organics dog food, but i don't do it religiously. He liked one of the flavors, but not the other (I can't remember which), but lately I've been getting Rachel Ray's Noutrish. He LOVED a sample I got and good coupons are pretty easy to come by. It's not organic, but it's better than some others out there. If I can't get either of those I do Iams.

We got samples of Nutrish as well (Big Y had it a while ago...pretty good size sample bags!). We actually use it as treats and they love it. I bought her Isaboo Biscotti too....fun stuff and good ingredients. I'll have to check the Nutrish out for actually feeding them! Thanks!

We feed our dog the Nature's Best variety of Science Diet. There are almost always coupons available for it, and through the points program that science diet offers and the loyalty program and discounts at Petco, it averages about half the retail price when you factor in the coupons and free bags.

We don't have a dog, but we feed our cats Nutro Naturals. I tried to find a cheaper way to go, but I'm scared to switch since one cat will cry while going to the bathroom with regular food. I just purchased a 20 lb. bag for $42! Ouch! The price jumped $8/bag in the matter of weeks. I've tried buying it online recently, but with the cost of shipping it's not worth it.

My friend feeds her dog the same thing (but for dogs, of course). I think she buys her food at a hardware store or a local feed & grain store, depending on which is cheaper at the time she needs to buy it.

Well *gulp*. We just bought Wellness Core dry dog food. Grain free, awesome source of protein. After doing some research, they say the higher protein dog foods are better for older dogs (my baby is turning 16 this spring! Our other boy is 5). It helps them assimilate their food better. Core has 34% protein where the LID had only 21%. That's not a *bad* amount; they say to give a source of red meat and also fish oil to supplement with the lower amount of protein. If I'm going to do THAT, I might as well pay for the dog food. It'll be cheaper in the long run. Wish me luck on the Core! We will gradually start incorporating it into their diets tonight. As I sit here, both dogs are sniffing the bag with complete enthusiasm! I best get it out of their reach!

Again, thanks for all the input!

This is a bit late, but my dogs only eat Kumpi dog food. It's a bit pricey and is sold by a private vendor, but at least the price includes tax and shipping. Just thought I'd throw this out there.
