Default Weis sales 1/22/09- 1/28/09

Weis sales 1/22/09- 1/28/09
View the ad:
Weis Markets Weekly Circular
natural and organic specialties- page 4

My picks for the week:

California navel oranges- BOGO
Not organic, but the organic varieties are usually priced out of my league, and at #19 on the dirty dozen, these are safe to eat conventional varieties of. The cost for the single bag is $4.99 so with this deal you're getting 8 lbs of oranges for $4.99. Navel oranges are also in season right now, and are a great way to add fiber and vitamin c to your diet.

Naturewell Natural Beef top round roasts-$3.99/lb
This is a quality, fairly lean cut of meat that would go well in a slow cooker with some root vegetables for a hearty winter meal. Look for additional bargains by checking around towards the end of the sale for when the butcher marks down the packages that haven't sold. There are usually some sort of beef or meat wine tags or rebates out if you live in the areas that have them available. Combine those coupons with the sale/markdown for additional bargains.

Nature's Path Cereals- $3.99
At face value, this isn't a great sale, but I have some of the buy one, get one free coupons from the DC Green Festival which brings these down to just under $2 per box which is a bargain on organic cereals in my book! There are other coupons available, so if you're in a pinch for cereal, $3 per box is still reasonable.

Kozy Shack Pudding- BOGO

These are priced at $3.29 and there are 25 cents/1 coupons listed in the database. At Weis, the coupon will double to 50 cents, and you can use two coupons on a BOGO sale. This gets you two tubs of pudding for just over $1 apiece. These aren't organic, but they're considered a natural product and carried by all of my locally owned organic grocers.

Red or Yellow Onions- BOGO 2 lb bag

Traditional onions are listed as #45 on the Dirty Dozen list so they're safe to eat. I usually get organic onions at my local organic market for $1.49/lb, but I can get a bag of each variety at Weis this week for only $2.29. That's almost a dollar per pound savings over what I normally buy. If you have a produce winetag, it's an even better deal. These are great for a French onion soup, or combined with the beef roast that's also on sale this week.

Additional deals:
Weis seems to have a lot of meat on sale this week and that usually carries over into the natural varieties that aren't always listed in the circular. They carry a full line of Coleman natural meats which are oftentimes marked down, and you can combine the Coleman home mailer coupons for big bargains.

Thanks for the breakdown of the good sales!

The Nature's Path granola cereals are very good, and $2 is a great price! Since my hubby doesn't cook anything w/o tons of onions, I'd be all over that sale too.
