DEAD DEAL Shaw's Wild Harvest 9/18/09- 9/24/09

Shaw's Online Ad

Shaw's Printable Coupons

I can't believe my eyes! This week actually looks good for organic deals! I don't think I will be able to cut it down to five. Here goes...(let's see if I can do it).

On page 5, there's an in-ad coupon for $4/4 Kashi products. Because this is a store coupon, you can also use manufacturer's coupons with the in-ad coupon. Check the database if you are in need of the locale for Kashi coupons. The only item in the flyer on sale is Kashi GoLean cereal for $3 each. This still has the potential to be a great deal, depending on what coupons you have. Let's say you don't have any, and you buy 4 Kashi GoLean cerels. You pay $12 sale price - $4/4 in-ad coupon = $8 for 4 boxes. $2 each isn't too too bad. Now if you also have 4 $1/1 coupons, you'd only pay $1 per box. I'd rather pay $1 per box for a healthy cereal than $.20 each for sugar laden Fruit Loops or Apple Jacks. Wouldn't you?!

Wild Harvest deals galore! If you're able to print the $1/1 WH IP, you can get a few things for free or close to free--that's right, FREE!
  • WH Organic Tea $.85 each = FREE after coupon
  • WH Instant Oatmeal $2.50 - $1/1 (Back to School Shaw's booklet coupon/red cover) - $1/1 WH IP = $.50 each box!
  • WH Organic Beans $1.25 = $.25 per can! **Read the label to find the country of origin**
  • WH Organic Apple Juice (64 oz.) $2.99 = $1.99 after coupon

I don't know these next two companies, but they are mixed in with the other organic/natural deals. Please let me know if you have any info on them or have tried their products. I would be interested to see how their products compare.
  • VitaMuffin Muffins (8 oz.) $5.19
  • Erin Baker's Granola (12 oz.) $4.99

Helen's Kitchen Burritos are $2.19 each this week. In the past I have bought conventional burritos for about a buck a piece. To get a higher quality product for a little more seems worth it to me. I haven't tried this brand yet. If you have and have an opinion, please share it here.

Produce deals are lacking this week, but I would suggest going to the farmer's markets before they close up. If you can't, you may have to pay $2.50 for 2 lbs. of WH Organic Carrots or $2 for each Organic Avocado. Looking to save a little dough? Check out the Dirty Dozen list before you buy your produce. There are some fruits and veggies that you can feel better buying conventionally grown (avocados is one of them and so is kiwi).

Conventionally grown Kiwi are only $.33 each! I was going to suggest buying Asparagus at $2.99/lb. but it is imported. The country of origin is unknown from the flyer, so I will not be buying it. (Check here for a link or two and do a search online to find out more).
