DEAD DEAL Shaw's Wild Harvest 9/25/09 to 10/1/09

Shaw's Printable Coupons

Most of the organic deals are posted on page 5 this week. Veggies etc are on page 3.

Dollar Deals: it's all about the O...

Odwalla Nourishing Food Bar
is a buck! Yummy! The Choco-walla is sooooo good! You have to try it. The berry one made me a little queasy, but it wasn't horrible. (How's that for a review). This is a great meal replacement bar that you can just grab and go. Then pick up O Infused water for another buck! $2 for lunch isn't too bad. Of course, you really should add in some fruit and veggies; but if you have no time, at least eat something to keep your metabolism going. **The only coupon I could find for the Odwalla bars is a Whole Foods Mambo Sprouts coupon, so you probably can't use those at other stores...unless they've changed things. **No coupons for the water either.

Eat your veggies! ..and fruit too

Organic Broccoli
is not on the dirty dozen list (it's a part of the clean 15), but $1.99/lb. is a great price anyway. There are several recipes in the recipes forum for you to try, like Broccoli with Sunflower Seeds, Vegetables with Mustard Vinaigrette, or Broccoli and Ginger Dumplings.

Organic Seedless Red Grapes
, on the other hand, are on the dirty dozen list. $1.99/lb. is a great price to stock up! Stock up?! Yes, you can freeze grapes and pop them in your mouth. I would make sure to wash them with veggie wash, dry them thoroughly, and then pop them on to a cookie sheet to flash freeze. Stick them in the freezer for an hour before you put them in a freezer proof container. Eat them for a snack by themselves, or throw them in a smoothie instead of ice to make it nice and thick.

If you just can't bring yourself to peeling and chopping your own carrots, go ahead and buy the Wild Harvest Organic Baby Carrots at $2/bag (1 lb). Carrots are also on the DD list, so it's best to buy organic. And really, the price is not that much more than conventional.

Conventional Asian Pears
are #12 on the DD list, but they are B1G2F. Depending on how close you follow the DD list, you may decide that this is an okay choice for you and your family.

Wild Harvest Organic Deals: ($1/1 Wild Harvest Product, Any)

WHO Soups are only $1.79 or $.79 after coupon! That's a great price. Have you tried them?

WHO Tea (16-ct) is only $2.50. That is pretty close to my buy price for my favorite teas--not always organic. After coupon, it's only $1.50/box.

WHO Jasmine Rice (2 lb) for $3.99 or $2.99 after coupon is also not a bad price. With the colder weather in the air, I always get the desire to cook something hot. Make some yummy rice on the stove helps to heat up my house too! It gets me moving and warms the air.

And we can't forget these deals:

Now is the time to stock up on your favorite Clif Bars. At only $1.25 each, if you use the $.50/1 coupon from the Mambo Sprouts "Waves of Summer" Savings '09 booklet, you'll end up paying $.25 each! Remember, you can only double 6 like coupons per transaction. So if you want more than 6, do separate transactions, or go to the store several times this week.

And with perfect timing, Shaw's has put Nasoya Organic Wrappers, Tofu, and Noodles on sale for $2 each. If you have a home mailer coupon for $.25/1 Nasoya tofu, you can get an even better price at $1.50. That's the only coupon that is in the database though. I've been wanting to make my own egg rolls with all the cabbage that's coming out of the garden, and at $2/egg roll at the Chinese restaurant it gets expensive.
