Default Discontinued products

As a long-time shopper of TJ's, I must give them snaps for constantly upgrading their product quality and broading their range of suppliers.

Occasionally, though, they drop a product that you just really hate to see go. One of the wonderful non-store label products I was thrilled to see TJs carry is Better For Bullion. TJ's sold it for $2.99 a jar, about 50% off the regular price at my local Freddies (Fred Meyer) or Safeway.

Last night, I checked again the soup/broth aisle (again!) for B4B, and finally asked an employee whether they sold any type of bullion? He said, "You mean, Better For Bullion? It's been discontinued."

I said, "The product has been discontinued, or Trader Joe's has stopped carrying it?" He explained that TJ's has discontinued carrying it, but -- noticing my frown -- that a lot of customers in this particular store were unhappy to see it gone from the shelves, and that he'd say something to his manager.

I'm definitely going to follow up with a comment card next time I shop.

Here's a question, though: Anyone know whether individual stores have much say over which national brand products to carry?

They discontinued my white bean dip this fall. I loved that stuff. I will try a comment card too. I think if there was enough demand from a good showing of their stores they would bring it back. Not sure about just one store.

I like that they discontinue items that aren't selling but it always stinks when it's something you like! I'd try the comment card-- I'm sure they keep records of what people are asking about.

I cried when they discontinued the peanut-butter filled Jo-Jos.

They used to carry these soba noodles that were in tight plastic packaging like ramen. They were the best soba noodles I ever had and I was so sad when I couldn't find them anymore. :(

Hi, I'm new here :) ....

The TJ near me used to have a bagged of mixed veggies with edamame and other greens. I loved that stuff, but they don't carry it anymore. I tried a comment card, but nothing so far.

A store in Baltimore has a yummy shrimp newburg casserole, but it is not offered in the store here where I live.

Ugh. lol

I think my precious lemon curd has been discontinued. I have checked the past few times I've been in and there hasn't been a spot for it on the shelf.

I haven't had the time to ask anyone about it though.

For some reason, I'm thinking it's a winter-only item, but sometimes they still have it on the shelf during other times of the year. Still, check and ask. I'd be shocked if they totally discontinued it.

me too. my kids and I loved those!

I was also bummed when they stopped carrying the vanilla paste.

We don't have TJ's in Texas, but my mom in CA will send me whatever I want. Last time I asked her to get me some pb jojo's she said they have been gone for a while. totally LAME!

They also used to sell the pre-cooked brown rice that was in small bags frozen, you just popped them in the micro for a couple minutes. She said that was gone from her store too.

It's back!!!!! I saw it earlier this week when I was there and I was so thrilled! You're probably right that it's seasonal.

This is my fail-safe dessert for last minute guests- thaw out a few slices of pound cake from the freezer and serve it with the lemon curd. Super easy!

you might want to give 'Better Than Bouillon' a try (Better Than Bouillon). Its pricier but its organic. A lot of TJ's products aren't.

They have it in a shelf-stable, non-frozen version now.
