THUMBS DOWN Trader Joe's Genova Pesto (conventional)

Okay, I think this is going to be the first item I ever take back to Trader Joe's!

It tastes... okay.... The price was good, I think it was $2.99 for 6 oz. But something just didn't taste quite right, so I looked at the ingredients. OMG the #1 ingredient is CANOLA OIL! Ugh! No wonder it didn't taste right!

I mean, seriously. It's pesto. Pesto is supposed to be all olive oil. There is olive oil.... it's #5 on the ingredient list which means it's not as plentiful as it should be. I haven't been so disgusted since I found out that Subway's "olive oil" was really a blend of soybean oil and olive oil, with the soybean oil at 90%. I mean, c'mon, just tell your customers the truth already!

Default Re: Trader Joe's Genova Pesto (conventional)

That really stinks! I don't usually buy pre-made pesto because of the cheese content for DH (We leave it out of our homemade stuff) but there have been times when he's not around that I've considered it.

I'll have to avoid this stuff...I think it would be better to just raise the price and make it with all olive oil!
