THUMBS DOWN Trader Joes Cherry Granola Cookies

derketchup and bexx kindly took me to Trader Joes last week when I visited them in Tacoma, so I just have to write a review if only for the sheer novelty of it. *sigh* I miss Trader Joes - boo hoo.

Anyway, we stopped in after we ate lunch at a fatastic local establishment, so the only thing on my mind was SWEETS. Plus, I needed something portable for my flight home the following day.

Looking for something that dh and I would both agree on, I settled for the Cherry Granola Cookies. To be honest, they may have a different name, since I long ago tossed the container - but the name definitely had "cherry", "granola", and "cookie" in the title.

The first two ingredients were granola and brown rice syrup, I do remember that.

Well, how do I say this? I have not met too many cookies I didn't love...but there was NO love for these so called cookies. At all. Blech. I only ate one, if that tells you anything. Didn't even need to try a second to see if the taste would grow on me. These were really sticky (in fact, they were all stuck together in the container and hard to pull apart). The taste was totally ick. Not sure if it was the brown rice syrup or what, but I couldn't even pinpoint what was so aweful.

I tossed these in our carry-on bag anyway, and hubby did manage to finish off the entire container while waiting at the airport, but just as he was finishing up the last one, exclaimed, "Don't ever buy those again!"

That's horrible! I've never had a bad cookie from TJs.

LOL! Why is that men only admit to not liking something after they've polished off the entire box?

That sucks about those cookies though - I'm not a cherry fan, so I probably wouldn't have ever tried them, but thanks for the review! :)

I don't think it's wrong if you still want to try them. Everyones taste buds are different. While my DH frowns on a lot of the "weird" stuff that I buy and tells me to never buy "certain" stuff again that he doesn't like, if I like it, I just tell him not to eat it. Enough said.

A perfect example - he hates mushrooms (I love them)and will gripe if he sees them in his food. Soooo... I make sure that they are cut super tiny and then I cover them up with other stuff. Deceptive .. YES! Does he notice? Rarely. HEHE!!! Now if I could only find something all natural to help with his libido. Oops did I go there? Yep!

My brother doesn't eat mushrooms either- something about not feasting on gonads or something like that.

It's not that I think I'll like the cookies or I don't trust Juju's judgement- I just want to see how bad they are but that seems like a waste of money. Then again my DH is like Juju's and I could always pawn them off on him!

If you ask your TJs nicely they may open a box for you (and others) to sample. Mine does this sometimes.

Hehe.. gonads! Has he tasted them before? I tasted them when I was little but I do not remember what they taste like. Don't care to find out again any time soon either.
