Default Reusable shopping bags

I found reusable shopping bags at walmart tonight. They were in a box by the regestered and didn't have price mark on them. They rang up a buck each. They are black and say "paper or plastic? neither" on them. They are about medium sized.

I'm thinking about sewing my own grocery bags out of fabric I have on hand at home. I figure why spend money when I have the resources at home to make them. They are fairly simple to make.

DH bought me one of these bags at Walmart this weekend. Not bad for a $1. I also bought one at Albertsons the other day for $1

Weis has really cute grass-green colored reusable bags too! I just had to get myself a couple more when I was there over the weekend. They say "The earth thanks you."

ETA they are also 99 cents.

My walmarts don't have the bags yet. I have a few of the totes that are made from the plastic/paper/tyvec like stuff I was wanting to start using. But how do you guys get the cashiers to use them anyway - there isn't a place for me to put my bag and they tell me to put the plastic walmart bags in my bags - which just defeated the purpose of TRYING not using a plastic bag.
Then barnie fife wants to do a strip search cause I am leaving his store without walmart sacks showing in my buggy. Yellow smiley face stickers wont stop him. Around here we say he would search his mommas buggy before she gets out the door - he takes his job seriously!

When I first started using them I thought they looked really small too but I can fit way more in the reusable bag than I can in the plastic bags. They are really sturdy too and IMO a lot easier to carry heavy products in because you don't have the thin plastic handles cutting into your hands. I can probably fit in one reusable bag what I would normally use 2-3 plastic bags for.

Really!

I appreciate your response. I think I am going to buy 2 bags and start out with them. Plus I noticed in out Kroger ad, they are going to start crediting 4 cents for each reusable bag... Sounds like a win, win, win situation.

ITA with Kristen. I got 2 free HEB reusable bags when they had a big promo on them a few months back. I have since bought 2 more HEB bags and 3 from Randalls-they're $.99 at Randalls and HEB. I think Randalls' bags are larger and sturdier but the HEB ones are nice too. HEB also is now offering the recycled cotton or canvas ones too that are a bit more and larger. Both HEBs and Randalls hold up well and you can definitely put at least 2-3 plastic grocery bag worth of stuff in each one. The prob I have is that some of the sackers overstuff the bags and then they are super heavy to carry in the house.

I love my bags though and even though they have HEB or Randalls logos on them, I have started to take them to CVS, WAG and Target...I get some strange looks but I feel good...

I saw reusable shopping bags at Target. At one store they were near the dollar spot, and they were folded up in a square. Looked like a nice bag, I THINK it was a dollar (sorry, I've been relieved of my memory!) I didn't buy one, Target and I were not on speaking terms that day. Either that or it said made in China, I don't remember lol! I'll update this after I go to Target again, unless someone beats me to it ;)
