Reporting for duty!

Product: Elemental organic + earth friendly fragrance jar ("air freshener")

Price:
$1.34 for a 6 oz container

Fragrance varieties available at my store: apple or cotton

The verdict:

These both smelled very good but I thought they were a little strong and I wasn't impressed enough to shell out the dollar and change for a purchase. The container isn't very pretty like other conventional air freshener products available and is something you'd probably want to hide if you were using it as an air freshener. It's a clunky opaque peach-colored plastic container with a lid. The lid wasn't securely on and I spilled the liquid all over myself in the store. (Although I didn't develop a rash or anything, so that's a good sign I guess.) For $1.34 it seems like it would freshen a really stinky room for a good period of time. I'm going to have to go back and check to see if this is actually certified organic but I'm pretty sure it wasn't. I'd also like to recheck the ingredient list to see what's actually in the air freshener. I wrote down the product name, size, and price, as well as scents at my store and expected to be able to come home and search the internet for some information about the company. No such luck. I can't find anything about these products online which also makes me a little leery of how "organic" or "earth-friendly" they actually are. They are at least worth giving a second look. I'll try to go back and take a picture of one and get some more information about the actual ingredients.

THUMBS UP Re: Wal-Mart Gift Card Contest!

Cascadian Farms carries a variety of frozen veggies that I can only find at Walmart:

Purely Steam Garden Vegetable Medley
A premium blend of organic sugar snap peas, roasted potatoes, and red peppers with garden herbs, lightly seasoned and steamed to perfection.

The regular price is $1.79, so I stocked up on a few boxes with the current $1/1 coupons. The veggies cook up nicely, and the herb taste isn't too strong. The only complaint I have is that my dh could really eat one entire box by himself with dinner. However, when it's only dd and I, the box is more than enough and I usually have leftovers.

I would highly recommend these veggies!

EDIT: I linked my entry HERE!!

Name of Product: Organic Cotton T-Shirts (Girls) I don't think there was a name on them of a brand.
Type of Product (eg. cleaner, clothing, make-up): Clothing
Regular Price: I think the regular price was about $8.00 although my Walmart had them on clearance for $2.00
Opinion of the Product (eg. Pros, Cons, Would you suggest this item to a friend?, etc.): I found these organic cotton t-shirts at Walmart yesterday for my 10 year old DD. They had many colors and different sayings on them. I picked up 10 different shirts for $2.00 each. They were a thin cotton short sleeved t-shirt. Not too thin to be see through but thin enough to feel nice in the summer. I got home and unloaded my finds (oh yeah sweatshirts and sweatpants for the toddlers for a $1.00 a peice and snowsuits for everyone for 5.00 each...not organic but there were some good deals!) and my DD put on one of the shirts and it looked way cute. And infact said CUTE on the front. Many shirts these days have junky or inappropriate sayings on them and none of the ones I bought said anything about being a princess or having a boyfriend. I got shirts in pink, red. navy, chocolate brown, etc. I washed them all last night and the colors seemed to be OK in the wash. I would buy them again and recomend them to others.

Default Re: Wal-Mart Gift Card Contest!

here is another one:

Name of Product: Clorox Natural Toilet Bowl Cleaner
Type of Product (eg. cleaner, clothing, make-up): Cleaner
Regular Price: They were priced 2 for $5.00, I dont know if that is the reg. price or a sale of some sort...
Opinion of the Product (eg. Pros, Cons, Would you suggest this item to a friend?, etc.): I purchased two bottles of this at Walmart about 3 weeks ago for a few reasons. (1) I have no toilet bowl cleaner in my stockpile anymore. (2) the great suggestions for make it yourself type cleaners posted here at OGD all require some sort of "sit time" and with 7 folks in our house there is not much time to let a product sit for any length of time. (3) the bottle said natural, so I read the ingredients and they look natural enough and I had read a review about it in a magazine so I thought I would give it a shot.

I should note that we have hard water where I live...but I have used this product about 10 times and thus far I do not think it is very effective on the hard water. The smell is OK and does not cause me to gag or have a hard time breathing. I did get a little on my hand and did not break out in hives. So it is OK in that reguard. The cleaner is a thin liquid/gel and I think it could be thicker so that is says on the toilet bowl surface a little longer instead of sliding right into the bowl water. The toilet bowl cleaner that works the best on our hard water is "The Works" and it fizzes in the toilet and eats away at the lime scale. The Clorox natural I am sure does not have ingredients that are strong enough to eat away at that stuff. Although it did just fine on regular "toilet bowl" stuff.... (yeah I have 3 toddlers that are potty training you can use your imagination on what I am talking about).

I would recomend this product to those that do not have hard water and don't feel like making thier own TB cleaner. Although if you have the desire to make something yourself that would probably work good too to use the vinegar and other suggestions posted here on OGD. If you have hard water this cleaner might be good for everyday use and then follow up once a week with something that will eat the lime scale once a week or so. I have not found any coupons for it yet although there might be some out there in coupon land. Usually when there is a new product like this there are coupons too... I would buy it again if I had a coupon and would use it for everyday/everyother day cleaning and then use the other TB cleaner once a week. JM2C
