Fed Up!

Hi everyone,

I'm just starting to learn about organic foods and products. You hear too many stories these days about kids developing early because of all the stuff they pump into animals and dairy products. I'm hoping to use this site to learn how to be healthier and save money doing it! Because an organic lifestyle isn't going to happen on my budget without coupons.

One quick question: I went to the local health food store this morning and bought Nature's Plus Animal Parade vitamins for the kids. Does anyone know if these are aspartame-free? I'm pretty sure I read that company's don't have to list it in their ingredients since vitamins don't have to be approved by the FDA.

You've met good company because without coupons, organic foods wouldn't be in my budget either!

I don't know the answer about the vitamins, though I will be happy to try and look it up for you. Another suggestion would be to write the company and ask them. If you are allergic to aspartame, I'm pretty sure they would give you that info. It never hurts to try!

HI and welcome. This is a GREAT forum!!!

The best thing to do (second only to asking the company directly) is to ask the store you bought them from. I know our health food store knows a lot (or knows where to get the information). And one of our local HFS (not major chain) is VERY picky about what products the accept. They don't sell things that Whole Foods does.

I looked on the Nature's Plus website and did not see aspartame listed on thier ingrediants list but if there is some sort of allergy concern I would definatly contact them just to make sure.

BTW there was a coupon sign up page on thier website too: http://www.naturesplus.com/coupons/

Great, thanks for the coupon link. We're not allergic to aspartame, but I did a paper on its negative effects in college and, even though I'm pretty much addicted to diet drinks, I try to keep the kids off it. So I was shocked to discover it's been in their vitamins all these years. I'll write to the company and ask.

Just an FYI: I did write to Nature's Plus and there's no aspartame in their Animal Parade vitamins. Thought I would share in case anyone else was curious....thanks!

Thanks for the update! I'm glad they got back to you, and so soon. Lately, the companies I've written to haven't even bothered to respond.

Welcome to a great site....most stores are beginning to put more organic foods in them. I have noticed more in the last few months around here
