Welcome to OGD!!! I thought at first we couldn't afford organic either but we started on a small scale and then worked our way up. The easiest part for my family was that we already had a large stockpile of health and beauty so the extra money could go towards organics. Feel free to ask questions, everyone is very helpful and friendly.

Hello couponskitty -

You will be surprised. Being a single mom with two children I didn't think I could either. I did for medical reasons as my oldest was diagnosed with cancer two years ago. But I am taking baby steps, getting things organic that we normally eat (milk, yogurt, cheese) and trying that out on the girls first and seeing how they like it. Then I went to mac & cheese (which they say is better than the cheesiest) and canned pastas for our busier nights when it is hard for me to cook a big meal. They haven't complained about anything, saying it is really good. The only thing they aren't too hot about is the fruit rollups. But I am going little by little and staying more towards the things we use in abundance and sticking to the dirty dozen list. And reading on here I learn a lot!!! Good luck -

Missy

Have you used coupons before? How about rebates? If I could give you one piece of advice, it would be to use rebates towards organic items. You may not get as much as you would buying conventional products/meat/etc., but it would help to cut down the cost of your organic grocery bill. For example, if you were to get a rebate for salty snacks, grab a bag of organic tortilla chips or organic nuts. If you had a rebate for chicken or meat, buy organic meat. Sometimes it's just realizing that you can purchase organic products for rebates.
